Abstract Submission Criteria

Abstracts are being sought for the two Table Top sessions – we have again included this highly popular means of sharing a broad range of information in a short period of time. Table Tops will involve multiple presenters, with each presenter at a round table of up to nine participants. Presentations will be a total of 10 minutes’ duration, with five minutes to present, and five minutes for extension, adaptation and discussion of the presentation. Presenters move tables at the sound of the music, and repeat their presentation. This gives participants a chance to hear about a number of innovative approaches, to ask questions for follow up and application in their local environment and to test their own ideas.

Theme
The theme for WHCN 2012 is: Networks in Health: Leading, Linking, Innovating, Transforming

Goal
The Conference aims to:

  • bring together health and social care leaders from around the world – both clinical and managerial – to share ideas and experiences about how health networks in their various forms can strengthen and drive a comprehensive primary health care agenda.
  • grow the World Health Care Networks movement by continuing to foster national and international network connections for future ongoing collaboration.

Presentation format
Abstracts will be presented in a Table Top format, which will involve multiple presenters with each presenter at a round table of up to nine participants. Presentations will be a total of 10 minutes’ duration. Five minutes of this time will be used to present, and the remaining five minutes will be used for extension, adaptation and discussion of the presentation. Presenters move tables at the sound of music, and repeat their presentation. This gives participants a chance to hear about a number of innovative approaches, ask questions for follow up and to test their own ideas.

Laptops cannot be used and there is only one presenter per presentation.

Essential criteria
The two Table Top sessions will be a mix of three themes:

  1. Clinical and provider networks: service-level innovation
  2. Health governance and leadership networks: systems-level change
  3. Multi/cross-sectoral networks: health in all policies – networking across sectors

Abstracts will be assessed against the following three criteria:

  1. How well your initiative meets one of the above themes (please specify which theme your presentation addresses when submitting your abstract).
  2. Provide the evidence on which your initiative is based and demonstrate objective evaluation results where possible.
  3. Demonstrate how your initiative is sustainable and how it can be applied across multiple and diverse settings, taking into consideration developed and developing country contexts.

Submitting abstracts
Please follow the essential criteria outlined above. All abstracts will be reviewed and selected by the WHCN international advisory committee, and all applicants will be informed of the outcome of their application after Thursday 20 March 2012. Abstracts are to be no more than 350 words in length.

Please submit your abstract online using the abstract submission form; Abstracts need to be received prior to Close of Business Friday 17 February 2012 to be considered. If the abstract is not submitted online using the abstract submission form, the abstract will not be accepted for review.
